"I was afraid of giving up some of my freedom"

Chantal has just recently started getting out and about without her own car. She doesn't miss it. At least most of the time.

Chantal, why did you give up your own car this year?
My (somewhat older) vehicle was due its inspection. For some time now, I had planned that this would be the time when I would give living without my own vehicle a try in order to do my part for sustainability.

What concerns or worries did you have that turned out to be wrong?
I was worried about not being able to be as spontaneous and flexible. That turned out to be wrong, because so far I've always been able to book a Mobility vehicle, even at short notice.

How do you usually get about at the moment?
I use my e-bike to get to and from work. Outside of work, I mainly use public transport. And I occasionally visit my favourite place to train in Brunnen or go hiking, which is when I take a Mobility car.

What does the Mobility offer look like where you live?
There are two vehicles right next to where I live, even closer than the car park where I used to keep my own vehicle.

Be honest: Are there situations when you miss having your own car?
When I'm sitting on a packed train first thing in the morning (which doesn't happen very often because I cycle to work).

«The Mobility cars are cleaner and have a bit more power than my old car did.»

What has been the biggest positive effect for you since you started car sharing?
Although I was afraid of giving up some of my freedom, it now feels even more freeing not owning my own vehicle. I don't have to worry about anything. And the Mobility cars are cleaner and have a bit more power than my old car did.

What has changed in terms of your commute to work?
I almost always cycle to work now, even when it rains.

What would you do if Mobility's offer did not exist?
Then I probably wouldn't have sold my vehicle.

What's your best car sharing tip for beginners?
You don't need any tips, the whole thing is very simple. And if something's not working as it should, our Service Center is on hand to offer advice and help along with a smile.

Have you had any memorable experiences yet using Mobility?
When I was getting out of a Mobility vehicle, I was told that Mobility had been run by a woman for a very long time (think "girl power") and so we ended up having a nice conversation among us women.
