Mobility employees tell us about their experience
Dagmar
"My tip would be to just give it a try"

Mobility employee Dagmar has been getting around without her own car since 2018. Because she has a dog, it's not always easy. Fortunately, the next shared car is not far away.
Dagmar, why did you switch from having your own car to car sharing?
Because, firstly, it was too expensive for me to have a car and, secondly, it was just a hassle. I don't need my own vehicle, I have the train station nearby and if I need to get somewhere quickly, I can just hop on my Vespa at any time and drive off.
What concerns did you have that turned out to be wrong?
That I wouldn't have as much freedom without a car.
What does the Mobility offer look like where you live?
It would be cool if we had a Mobility car in our apartment complex. It's already been looked into – but unfortunately, no success yet. Besides that, the nearest Mobility vehicle is just under 15 minutes' walk away for me.
How often do you use Mobility and for what purpose?
Once or twice a month. To visit people or do a big shop. Occasionally for an excursion.
Be honest: Are there situations when you miss having your own car?
Since I have a dog, it would sometimes be handy if I had my own car. Because I find buying a train ticket for the dog that ends up costing the same amount as it does for me with my half-fare travelcard somewhat disproportionate. Even if I'm travelling further afield on holiday, it would sometimes be handy to have my own car.
«If I need to get somewhere quickly, I just hop on my Vespa.»
What has been the biggest positive effect for you since you started car sharing?
I don't have to visit the garage at least twice a year to get the tyres changed
I don't have to get my vehicle inspected
I don't need to pay for a parking space
I don't have to vacuum the vehicle and don't have to worry about cleaning in general
I don't need to get an annual motorway toll sticker
My wallet thanks me for it
What would you do if Mobility's offer did not exist?
I guess I maybe would've have bought myself a car at some point.
What's your best car sharing tip for beginners?
Just give it a try and give it a chance
Have you had any memorable experiences using Mobility?
When I took part in the Startup Night in Winterthur last year, where Mobility had a stand, I got a little panicked on the way back in the Honda-E when I saw how much energy I had left and how many kilometres I still had to go. The maths didn't seem to quite add up. But when I braked to slow down just before the motorway exit, I'd suddenly fed so much back in again that I had more electricity in the end than I had before on the motorway. I found this quite impressive.
