Stefan is a big fan of car sharing and has been using Mobility for almost 20 years. He sometimes annoys his circle of acquaintances with his enthusiasm.

Stefan, why did you switch from having your own car to car sharing?
I moved to the city in my early twenties and the parking situation alone would have been a nightmare. Financially too, I couldn't afford a car after the rust claimed my Opel.

What concerns or worries did you have that turned out to be wrong?
I never had any concerns. I always had a job that was easy to reach by public transport and when I needed a car, I could borrow one or use Mobility.

What does the Mobility offer look like where you live?
I'm lucky to have three Mobility cars practically on my doorstep – a Budget, an Economy and a van. There are also several alternatives within a one-kilometre radius. Very convenient.

How often do you use Mobility and for what purpose?
On average, I use Mobility once every two weeks – mainly for driving to the rehearsal space that's quite out of the way, doing a big shop or visiting family. I've also been to Europapark before and gone on holiday to South Tyrol with Mobility.

Are there situations when you miss having your own car?
Not at all actually: I'm constantly trying to tell my friends and acquaintances all about the benefits of car sharing and annoy them so much that they finally give it a try.

«I've saved an incredible amount of money over the years.»

What has been the biggest positive effect for you since you started car sharing?
I could say sustainability. But to be honest: This is mostly just a nice side effect. I've saved an incredible amount of money over the years by not having to pay for renting parking spaces, insurance, maintenance work, etc.

How do you think car sharing could be made even better?
Car sharing should be as simple as possible. In an ideal world, all cars – regardless of type – would have the same functions, levers and buttons. And we should definitely make up a Mobility or car sharing greeting so that we can greet each other when we're out and about.

What's your best car sharing tip for beginners?
Check the car for damage before the journey. I didn't do this for years and was completely naive. By not doing it, I could have been held responsible for unreported damage caused by people who had used the car before me. In hindsight, I was just really lucky.

Have you had any memorable experiences using Mobility?
Shortly after I started working at Mobility, I drove one of our cars to the Ökihof, where I met one of the members of the Executive Committee. It was clear to me that I was in the right place.
