Using MobilityYour first Mobility journey
We think it’s cool you’re joining us – your first journey is just around the corner. To make sure you have all the information you need, we’ve summarised the most important points for you here.
- Reservation and Mobility station
All relevant information about the Mobility station and directions can be found on the reservation confirmation. Please also note the access media for the Mobility station (pin pad codes, badges, long-term parking cards, number plate recognition, etc.) and the access information.
- Fair play rules
Please observe the fair play rules. This includes, for example, returning the vehicle in good time before the end of the reservation and locking it. The tank must be at least 1/3 full or the charging cable for the electric vehicle must be plugged in correctly, smoking is not permitted in the vehicle and you must clean up any dirt caused during your use. You can find the full list under:
- Unlocking/locking the vehicle
There are two ways to unlock/ lock the vehicle: either hold your Mobility Card or SwissPass up to the checkpoint on the windscreen of the car or switch on the Bluetooth function on your mobile phone and unlock/lock the vehicle via the Mobility app. The central locking releases and locks automatically. Please be sure never to unlock/lock the vehicle using the key, and always leave the key in the vehicle – even on interim stops. Before leaving the vehicle, check that the engine and all lights are switched off, all windows and doors are closed and that the vehicle has been locked correctly. Tip: give the door handle a quick tug to make sure the vehicle is locked.
You can find out more about the journey under: Welcome aboard
- Checking the vehicle for damage
Before you drive off, you must check the vehicle for any damage. Existing or unregistered damage can be compared or reported quickly and conveniently in the Mobility app before the journey start.
You can also easily and conveniently report damage caused by yourself, with no other party involved, via our Mobility app up to 15 minutes after the end of the reservation, including uploading photos of the damage.
- Starting the vehicle
If the vehicle can be started with a key, you’ll find the key in the glove box. Please return it to the glove box when you’ve finished using the car. A lot of vehicles are started using the start/stop button. These do not have a key.
Before starting your journey with an electric vehicle, please check the charge level by switching on the ignition and contact our 24h service centre +41 848 824 812 if it is insufficient for your planned journey. We will be happy to check for an alternative with you.
- Free refuelling
The petrol tank must be at least one-third full when you give the car back. Refuelling is free – the fuel card is located in a holder in the glove box.
With the ignition switched off, remove the fuel card from the holder. The PIN code then appears on the display. Please insert the card back into the holder after refuelling.
Alternatively, you’ll find the PIN code in the app, in the summary of the reservation in question.
The fuel card can only be used in Switzerland, and only at petrol stations bearing the card logo.
If you do pay for the fuel yourself, you can send us the fuel receipt, stating your Mobility number and reservation number, by e-mail to office(at)mobility.ch or upload it directly in our app. We will credit the expense to your Mobility customer account.
- Change reservation
You can easily shorten or extend your reservation at any time via the app, the customer portal or, in the case of some vehicles, directly via the on-board computer inside the vehicle. If an extension is not possible, the vehicle must be returned to the Mobility location before the reservation period ends.
- Ending the drive
At the end of the journey, the fuel level must still be at least 1/3 full. If this is not the case, please refuel before the reservation period comes to an end. For details, see above under “Free refuelling”. Return the vehicle to the same location. Lock the vehicle using your Mobility card, SwissPass or app. If you do not need the vehicle as long as planned, you can end the reservation earlier via the app or on the on-board computer, saving you half of the remaining reservation costs. Before leaving the vehicle, check that the engine and all lights are switched off, all windows and doors are closed and that the vehicle has been locked correctly.
Please note that the electric vehicle must always be correctly connected to the charging station after your journey, regardless of the charge level, and the charging process must be started. This does not apply to Mobility vehicles where the location does not have its own charging station.
The majority of our charging stations do not incur any charges for charging and the charging process starts automatically once the charging cable is connected. However, there are also charging stations that require a home charging card or badge to start the charging process. The card is labelled accordingly and is located behind the sun visor. The badge is located in the vehicle’s central console. If the badge or home charging card is required, there is also a physical instruction manual in the glove box and, in some cases, additional information at the charging station.
If you are unfamiliar with the process or have any problems, you can call our 24h Service Center on 0848 824 812 at any time – we will be happy to help.
- What to do in case of an accident
Were you involved in an accident or did you cause one yourself? If so, please call the 24h Service Center right away on 0848 824 812 (local rate) and tell us. We generally recommend that you inform the police in the event of an accident, too. You’ll find an accident report template in the on-board folder. This must be completed with the other party and sent to us.
- Vehicle manuals for electric vehicles
Mobility wants to achieve climate neutrality. That’s why we’ve set ourselves the goal of completely electrifying our entire fleet – i.e. around 3’000 vehicles throughout Switzerland – over the next few years. Some 600 electric cars are already in use today. Here you will find the operating instructions for our electric vehicles.
