Key points at a glance
- April finds Mobility launchingsharing e-cars that don’t have their own charging points. What this means: Some e-vehicles will be stationed at locations without a charging point.
- The project comprises 13 Mobility locations in predominantly urban areas.
- Charging has to be done during a reservation using a public charging point.
- Mobility’s now looking for Charging Angels: Mobility users who help us by charging the e-vehicles when needed.
Could you imagine joining us as a Charging Angel and earning yourself some Mobility drive credit? Then read on. Here are the main questions and answers about Charging Angels.
What are Charging Angels?
Charging Angels are Mobility users prepared to charge certain Mobility e-vehicles at public charging stations. These particular e-vehicles are
- stationed at Mobility locations that have no charging point, and
- have a charge level that’s below 21% (or below 31% November to March).
Why do we need Charging Angels?
Refuelling on the go with petrol is something everyone’s been doing for ages. But not charging on the go – yet. So Charging Angels ensure that even e-vehicles stationed at Mobility locations that have no charging point are sufficiently charged and ready to go whenever a user needs one.
Why should I sign up as a Charging Angel?
Charging Angels make a valuable contribution to the Mobility community. And help take e-mobility to the next level. We also “reward” you with drive credit in your Mobility account every time you charge an e-vehicle.
How do I become a Charging Angel?
Scan the QR code and join the Charging Angels WhatsApp group for your area. Or join the group via this link.

What requirements do I have to meet?
You must be a Mobility member able to charge an e-vehicle at a public charging station. You’ll also need a smartphone and be on WhatsApp.
How do I get my first assignment?
If an e-vehicle with a low charge is returned to a Mobility location in your area that has no charging point, our customer service will notify “your” WhatsApp group. If you’re the fastest to respond with a “thumbs up”, you’ll be called by the customer service team for your first charging assignment.
Will I have to pay for driving to the charging station and back?
Yes. It’s basically a journey like any other. The difference is that you’re organising a charging session, for which we reward you with Mobility drive credit.
Which are the Mobility locations without their own charging points?
- ZĂĽrich Oerlikon Salvatorstrasse
- Zürich Glattpark Schärenmoosstrasse
- ZĂĽrich Heinrichstrasse / SchĂĽtze Areal
- ZĂĽrich Lehenstrasse
- Basel Kannenfeldpark
- Allschwil SteinbĂĽhlallee
- Binningen Tiefengrabenstrasse
- Köniz Bahnhof
- Bern Kirchbergerstrasse
- BĂĽlach Bahnhof
- BĂĽlach Allmendstrasse
- Weinfelden Bahnhof
- Zofingen Kath. Kirchgemeinde
Please note: the vehicles are available as usual to all Mobility customers. They’re labelled “E-vehicle location with no charging point”.
Will I always receive drive credit for using public charging stations?
Yes, subject to one condition: it must be for charging e-vehicles stationed at Mobility locations with no charging point. There’s no reward for charging e-vehicles stationed at Mobility locations with a charging point.
How much is the drive credit for public charging?
Charging Angels receive a one-off charge bonus of 1.50 francs plus 1.50 francs for every 10% increase in charge level. This rate applies exclusively to Charging Angels who take on a charging assignment. Normally, the credit is 1 franc (one-off charge bonus) plus 1 franc for every 10% increase in the charge level.
Here’s an example of the calculation: you charge from 18% to 86%, i.e. +68%, which is rounded up to 70% and corresponds to 10.50 francs. Together with the charge bonus, this results in 12 francs of drive credit in your Mobility account.
How do I redeem the drive credit?
The drive credit’s applied directly to the reservation during which you charge the vehicle. The corresponding amount’s automatically deducted from the kilometre and hourly costs. If the credit amount exceeds the travel costs, the balance’s credited to you and deducted from your next journey.
Please note: the vehicle must be online for it to register the charging session en route. For this reason, always allow the online connection in the infotainment screen when starting.
What should I do if I receive no credit after a public charging session?
The drive credit’s not issued immediately after charging, but deducted from the kilometre and hourly costs only after the journey. If this doesn’t happen, the vehicle was probably offline during the charging session, which can happen, e.g. in underground car parks.
For this reason, always keep the charging receipt (to be on the safe side) and call our 24h Service Center on 0848 824 812. You will receive your drive credit. That’s a promise!
Are Charging Angels obliged to accept charging assignments?
No. It’s always your choice, and responding’s always voluntary.
What should I do if I no longer want to be a Charging Angel?
You can opt out at any time. Just leave the WhatsApp group to become an ex Charging Angel.
