20.01.2021
Drive there, get out, enjoy: We’ll show you where you can recharge your batteries and get a taste of the fresh air with Mobility.
Seebodenalp: A view that will blow you away
The high plateau on the north-western flank of the famous Rigi offers a genuine outdoor experience. With the “Queen of Mountains” behind you and Lake Lucerne at your feet, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama. The road from Küssnacht SZ (near Lucerne and Zug) up to Seebodenalp is asphalted and the drive takes less than 20 minutes. There are plenty of parking spaces and an easy circular route that leads you along the viewpoints.
Vallée de Joux: Show off your skating skills
When the temperatures are low enough, Lac de Joux – the biggest lake in the Jura massif – and its smaller neighbour Lac Ter are transformed into huge, natural sheets of ice. Ice rinks. Even if you don’t want to buckle your runners under your feet, an excursion is worthwhile: The idyllic region invites you to take a leisurely stroll. Mobility gets you to your destination in 45 minutes from Lausanne, 60 minutes from Geneva and 90 minutes from Bern. See you soon!
Lengthy Mobility trips automatically cost less
“Best Price” is the name of the automatic, low-price solution for lengthier trips with Mobility. It guarantees you maximum savings on trips of up to 24 hours and 200 kilometres. The best thing is that you don’t have to do anything – Best Price comes into play automatically with every car rental. This means you always pay the lowest price. More here.
Sihltal/Ybrig: Hiking by Switzerland’s largest reservoir
Almost four hours long, but always straight ahead: From the Euthal, a magnificent hike through the snow-covered plain between Unteriberg, Studen and Lake Sihl, Switzerland’s largest reservoir, awaits you. Pack a thermos flask of hot tea in your rucksack and off you go! The starting point is a 45-minute drive from Zurich and Zug and one hour from Lucerne.
Crans-Montana: Follow the lights
Who doesn’t know it: Crans-Montana, one of the best ski resorts in Switzerland. But we’re not here to whizz down the Valais pistes: instead there’s an atmospheric lantern path to stroll along. It tells the children’s tale “The Shepherd and the Star of Bella Lui” and is ideal for families, with a walking time of 45 minutes. So pack up the kids and follow the tour through the areas of natural beauty around the centre of Crans-Montana. To get there, the winding road up from Sion takes about 35 minutes by car, or 20 minutes from Sierre.
Aeschi: Worship the sun above Lake Thun
The winter hiking trail from Aeschi in the Bernese Oberland (20 minutes from Thun, 40 minutes from Bern) takes you along the well-known “Bänkli circular trail,” which is also worthwhile in summer. The high plateau above Lake Thun offers superb views of the snow-covered peaks of Niesen and Dreispitz. There are several routes available, but the most common one will take you a little more than two hours.
Jurapark Aargau: Endless possibilities
Aargau Jura Park encompasses the hilly landscape of the Chain Jura and Table Jura between Brugg, Laufenburg Rheinfelden and Aarau. Covering 240 square kilometres, the self-proclaimed “green treasure trove” offers countless beautiful excursion opportunities and is easy to reach from all directions (Baden 20 minutes, Basel/Olten/Zurich 40 minutes).
Aïre: Always along the river
The small River Aïre ripples its way along just outside Geneva, and its banks are a wonderful place for a stroll. The river is a full ten kilometres long before it flows into the Arve at Pont Saint-Georges. Landscape architect Gilles Descombes both renaturalised the Aïre and created a newly designed pasture landscape there, so the walk is always visually satisfying, too.
Verzasca valley : Also worth seeing in winter
A flat, easily accessible hiking trail from Sonogno takes you into the wintery Verzasca Valley. As you walk along the river, you pass the typical stone mountain huts again and again. The path runs through the valley basin in the upper part of the Verzasca Valley with a view of the famous stone bridge of Lavertezzo. Directions: 45 minutes from Locarno, 60 minutes from Bellinzona.
