Are you in the Engadin and fancy an unforgettable day trip? Whether leisurely or spectacular, whether with hiking action or culinary delights: The journey through the Bergell towards Chiavenna offers several highlights. Find the right one for you.

You’ll find the right Mobility car in St. Moritz, PontresinaSils or Poschiavo.

Spectacular scenery on the Bernina Pass

The next highlight is not long in coming. In summer, parking spaces are occasionally scarce, especially when an Rhaetian Railway train composition is approaching. But the obligatory stop at the Montebello bend is a must. From there, you can take the perfect picture of two of Graubünden’s best-known residents in fine weather: the Piz Bernina and the Rhaetian Railway. The picture is perfect when both are combined in one photo.

We follow the train towards the Bernina Pass. The more altitude you gain, the more barren the landscape becomes – but no less beautiful! At 2327 m above sea level once you arrive, it’s worth getting off again. The view of the mountains and Lake Bianco is worthwhile in both winter and summer. And here too: The red train combined with the landscape is a special sight.

Glacier action on Diavolezza

If you want to see the mountains of Graubünden from what is possibly the best perspective, stop in Diavolezza on the way to the top of the pass. While the Mobility car is waiting in the car park below, the cable car takes you up to the Diavolezza.

If you want more than a view, immerse yourself in the unique glacier world on the Glacier Experience Trail for two hours. Would that be something for you? The intern tested the glacier theme trail for us:

Lagh da Saoseo and Lagh da Val Viola

When you leave the glaciers behind, a special valley awaits your visit. If you’ve never heard of Val di Campo, maybe you’ve heard of Rifugio Saoseo or Lago di Saoseo or Lagh da Val Viola? Please note: Allow at least half a day for this worthwhile detour.

The Mobility car remains in the car park in Sfazù on the Bernina Pass road. From there, you can either walk or take the hiking bus (order by phone) to Val di Campo. Those in need of refreshments will find what they are looking for at the Rifugio Saoseo SAC refuge. Afterwards, you can take a walk to the nearby lakes. If you want to extend your tour of discovery, simply stay overnight at Rifugio Saoseo.

Graubünden and Mobility make mobility sustainable

Graubünden Ferien and Mobility are responding to the growing need for clean mobility during holidays. As a result, the “Graubünden sustainably mobile” project started. This aims to develop combined mobility between public transport and e-car sharing and establish it among holidaymakers and locals alike. The aim of this offer is to ensure that long distances (particularly the journey) are shifted to public transport and that only shorter distances are covered locally by car.

Cavaglia Glacier Gorge

Next stop Cavaglia! On a tour of the Glacier Garden, you can look back on centuries gone by and discover the power of nature. Tip for next time: By car it is more convenient, but the journey to Cavaglia by Rhaetian Railway is more spectacular. The UNESCO World Heritage route is an even better way to immerse yourself in the spectacular scenery.

Gelati or pizzocheri in Poschiavo

It’s slow to take on Italy, so it’s high time for an ice cream! The town of Poschiavo is (not only) suitable for this. It’s quite possible that it’s not just an ice cream, as a walk through the picturesque town you’ll find more delicacies.

If you and your travel companions are looking for a special culinary experience: Learn how to make the perfect pizzoccheri in Poschiavo. This local speciality made from buckwheat is known beyond the cantonal and national borders. During the summer months (July – September), Ornella and Fausto Isepponi invite you to cook on Thursdays from 5 p.m.

You can find more culinary, cultural and sustainable travel tips on the Val Poschiavo website.

Brusio Circular Viaduct and other photo spots

The further you go towards the Italian border, the flatter and more comfortable it gets – but the highlights don’t diminish. To stretch your feet, take a walk on Lake Poschiavo or stop for photos in Miralago. A little further south, the Rhaetian Railway can also feel the difference in altitude: If you’re heading towards Tirano, you won’t be able to pass the Brusio Circular Viaduct by car. It’s worth waiting for a passing train to add a special touch to the sight.

High above Valposchiavo

If you want to climb up again, drive upwards from Brusio towards Viano. From there, you can either walk or drive to the Piaz nature park. From there, it is only a few metres in altitude to the Rifugio Alpe San Romerio. The picturesque alp consists of several houses and a small church with spectacular views of Valposchiavo. In summer (usually from May to October), day visitors can enjoy local specialities, and there are also plenty of accommodation options.
