Magnum is the team leader of the 24h service center at Mobility. Thanks to working from home and flexible working hours, he also has time for family and football. There are other reasons why he has been with the company for 13 years.

Magnum, how come you work for Mobility?

By chance. I saw a job advertisement and thought to myself: Why not just apply?! I got the job – and felt extremely comfortable right from the start. This had primarily to do with the people at Mobility. I didn’t have such empathy in the work environment before. I used to play football intensively and during that time I worked part-time or temporary jobs. There, too, I worked with great people, but the interaction with each other was not comparable to that at Mobility. I was looking for peace in my sporting and personal life and found it at Mobility.

Now you’ve been here for 13 years – and still happy?

Yes, because Mobility does a lot of things right when it comes to its employees. One of its strengths is that the company always succeeds in recruiting good people, so that a good working atmosphere prevails and a culture can develop further. I’ve been here for 13 years now and can’t pick out anything that’s fundamentally wrong for me.

Why is the feel-good factor so high?

It’s important to me that the focus is on people, and that’s what Mobility does. Cooperation is important to the company and it shows us that. I find it very pleasant to interact with one another, which certainly has to do with the fact that we meet on an equal footing and that a cross-company culture is practised on first-name terms. Festivals, such as the summer party or other events throughout the year, are also beautiful highlights.

Your positive nature is unmistakable. This cannot be taken for granted, considering that your job and that of your team primarily consists of solving problems.

This is sometimes a question of attitude. As a team leader, I don’t work on the front line every day. It also helps me that I myself provided phone support for eight years. This allows me to provide my employees with good advice when they need me. Back to the question: Yes, we are faced with problems, but we do not work in an area where we deal with serious or even life-threatening issues on a daily basis. That makes it easier. If I were to work for a health insurance company and had to refuse to pay for medication to a sick person, it would be a burden for me.

Does Mobility have a positive impact on you or your life?

There is no denying that Mobility has a positive influence on my actions, although some changes in behaviour can simply be attributed to ageing and/or social developments. For example, I find that I consume meat less frequently and more consciously than I used to. However, the fact that I now almost always use public transport has a lot to do with Mobility.

You are the father of two children and spend a lot of time on the football pitch in the evenings. Does all this work well with your work at Mobility?

This works very well. I benefit from flexible working hours and working from home when I send my daughters to school or to kindergarten. Then I sit in front of the computer a little later. If I compare it to other employers, Mobility offers a lot of flexibility.

To what extent does Mobility mean to you MORK, more than just work?

I got to know great people and made great friends, which are also cultivated privately. This is not necessarily common in this country and nowadays, I think. In my opinion, this has something to do with the fact that employees are a “number” in many larger companies. Here at Mobility, you are valued as a person.
