In just three years, the car sharing provider has increased the number of users by a quarter, reflecting a growing interest in shared mobility. Indeed, the number of vehicles available in the canton followed the same trend, recording an increase of more than 23% to 269 cars in the canton, thus reinforcing the car-sharing provider’s commitment to more sustainable and accessible mobility.

In Geneva, one Mobility vehicle replaces 21 privately owned cars

Mobility’s positive impact on reducing traffic and freeing up urban space is considerable. At national level, each Mobility car replaces an average of 18 privately owned cars. In the City of Geneva, the avoidance rate is even higher than the Swiss average: here, one Mobility vehicle replaces 21 private vehicles. If you combine all the cars shared by the cooperative society in the city, you get around 2,800 passenger cars that are avoided. For the parking spaces, this corresponds to an area of around 36,000 square metres, i.e. almost half of the Plaine de Plainpalais.

Car sharing is a future-oriented solution

“These results confirm that shared mobility is a solution for the future. By providing an increasingly accessible fleet of vehicles, we are offering an efficient alternative to private cars,” emphasises Stéphanie Gonzalez, Mobility spokesperson.

In order to meet the growing needs of the population and contribute to a greener and more fluid city, Mobility plans to continue developing its offer in Geneva and plans to reach 300 vehicles by the end of the year.
