From April, e-vehicles will be stationed at 16 Mobility locations without a charging point. Charging has to be done during reservations. Users who reserve such a car and charge it during the journey receive a credit note. The aim is to ramp up electromobility and make it more flexible.

Key points at a glance

  • From April, Mobility will be offering individual e-vehicles will be stationed at locations without a charging point.

  • The project comprises 16 Mobility locations in predominantly urban areas.

  • The Charging takes place within the framework of a reservation from the road.

  • Anyone who reserves and charges an e-car without their own charging station will in return be charged by us rewarded. He or she gets a Amount (depending on the charge level) to his Mobility account credited.

  • Mobility is also looking for “Charging Angels”: Mobility users who charge vehicles with low charge levels.

Users charge while on the move

From April, the Mobility fleet will include e-vehicles stationed at locations that have no charging points. Instead, users charge the vehicles during their reservations. The launch will take place at selected Mobility locations in predominantly urban areas.

Electric car charging in Switzerland: It's that simple

Never charged an electric car before? No problem - we'll show you what to do. In this video, you will learn how to find a suitable electric car charging station, how long charging takes, which plug you need - and how to operate the station confidently and stress-free.

Switzerland now has almost twice as many charging stations as petrol stations

There are several reasons why Mobility’s offering e-vehicles without charging points:

  • Switzerland’s ready: the number of public charging stations is growing and, at over 6,500, there are already twice as many as there are petrol stations. Charging en route will soon be common practice.

  • Mobility users are ready: manuals are available for every e-car (on the website or in the app), and charging’s included in the price. Every car has a charging card.

  • The cars are ready: e-vehicle battery technology’s constantly improving. With the further development of charging infrastructures, the implementation of such concepts is becoming increasingly practicable.

  • Mobility has its sights set on the future: With this launch, Mobiltiy is helping to shape the e-mobility of the future. E-cars without their own charging station fit seamlessly into modern mobility concepts that focus on flexibility and sustainability. They are an important step towards making electromobility in Switzerland more flexible and accessible. As a sustainable company, we want to electrify our entire vehicle fleet. It helps if a charging station does not have to be installed for every electric car. After all:it typically takes at least six months to install an e-vehicle location

Where are these e-vehicles without charging points located?

A small number of customers have one of these e-vehicles without charging points in their vicinity. The following 16 locations were selected for the pilot trial:

  • Zürich Oerlikon Salvatorstrasse

  • Zürich Glattpark Schärenmoosstrasse

  • Zürich Heinrichstrasse / Schütze estate

  • Zürich Lehenstrasse

  • Basel Kannenfeldpark

  • Allschwil Steinbühlallee

  • Binningen Tiefengrabenstrasse

  • Köniz Bahnhof

  • Bern Kirchbergerstrasse

  • Bülach Bahnhof

  • Bülach Allmendstrasse

  • Weinfelden Bahnhof

  • Zofingen Kath. Kirchgemeinde

  • Lausanne Migros Bergières

  • Fribourg Derrière-les-Rempart

  • Nyon Migros La Combe

The vehicles can be booked as normal by all Mobility customers. They are labelled "E-vehicle without charging station at location".

Charge to earn Mobility credit

Anyone reserving a car without its own charging point and charging it while in their possession will have drive credit paid into their Mobility account. The amount depends on the kWh charged. 1 franc per 10% increase in charging level, plus 1 franc charging start premium.

The vehicles without charging points are part of the regular Mobility fleet. Don’t worry: Mobility will keep an eye on the e-cars in question. A car with a critical load level is not rented out to people.

Mobility’s looking for Charging Angels

To ensure that these cars are kept available for use, we’re looking for people who can take them to charge points to top them up. These so-called Loading Angels are remunerated with a higher Mobility credit.
